Centre for Medical Biotechnology (CMBT) is currently running MSc Medical Biotechnology and PhD programme in various areas of medical biotechnology. Centre is having state of art infrastructure and laboratories equipped with high end instruments. It aims to produce human resource trained in identifying, understanding and working toward cure of various medical problems. The centre was established in 2011 and is funded by Department of Biotechnology, Govt of India. Students to MSc prog are admitted through common entrance test for biotechnology conducted by JNU and commom entrance test for lifesciences in haryana. Students enrolled under DBT sponsored seats are eligible for monthly stipend as per DBT guidelines. To cater need of our students for their overall development, centre has dedicated team of qualified faculty. Advanced, hands-on research in modern biology remains a keystone of our curriculum. In addition to lab courses, all students are required to complete six month research dissertation programme. Team CMBT believes in working towards our mission to produce human resource having critical scientific and technical knowledge tailored to meet needs in medical problems at fundamental as well as translational levels.

About Us

Centre for Medical Biotechnology established in 2011 under Faculty of Life Sciences is sponsored by Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India. The selected candidates through JNU entrance examination are given a scholarship of Rs. 5000/- month by the DBT. The centre offers Masters programme in the field of Medical Biotechnology and Doctorate programme in same or related field. The centre has its state-of-the-art infrastructure and laboratory facilities. The faculty members are continuously attracting extramural funding from different scientific agencies for running various research projects. Genetic Engineering, Molecular Diagnostic, Stem cell biology and Virology are thrust areas of research of the department.

M.SC (MEDICAL BIOTECHNOLOGY) - CBCS

(1).Students are admitted to the M.Sc. programme on the basis of an All-India entrance examination conducted by Jawahar Lal Nehru University (JNU) and through MDU combined life science entrance exam. (2).Programme is sponsored by Department of Biotechnology (DBT) , Govt. of India. (3).Total intake of students in this programme is 25. (4).Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) is offered to allow students to pursue subjects of their interests. (5).Programme places particular emphasis on practical learning and out-of-box thinking. (6).Emphasis on enhancing the communication and comprehensive skills. (7).Students are encouraged to go for Clinical Summer Training. (8).Hand-on experience for research work as ‘’dissertation’’ in final semester.

PH.D. COURSE WORK (MEDICAL BIOTECHNOLOGY

(1). CMBT offers multi and inter-disciplinary Doctoral programme to train outstanding students in basic and applied research. (2). Students can secure admission to the Ph.D. program after qualifying entrance examination and viva-voce. (3).The students must be qualified for Junior Research Fellowship of UGC/CSIR/DBT/ICMR. (4).CMBT offers state-of-the-art instrumentation facility. (5).Major areas of research includes Immunology, Virology, Stem Cell Biology, Genomics, Diagnostics and Genetic Engineering.
